"Once in life - at some particular point one must believe in the impossible"

Bishop J.B. Scalabrini

*****Mission*****

The Lay Scalabrinians are those who have embraced the vision of our Founder J.B. Scalabrini... To welcome, watch over, counsel and defend migrants and refugees. Through formation the lay Scalabrians learn about Scalabrinian Spirituality, about the migration process (socioeconomic and psychological phenomena) and about our founder, a man of will and a man of action who was by his own example able to demonstrate the importance not only of a Christian vocation but also of a Social vocation. J.B. Scalabrini laid particular emphasis on the role of the laity in the Social Action field.

After having known blessed Scalabrini’s life and spirituality, Lay people keep repeating, “Scalabrini belongs to us also”.  That is why they intend to share their missionary vocation with the Scalabrinian brothers, sisters and priests and with the members of the Scalabrinian Secular Institute.  Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini’s dream knows no boundaries: It is a gift to the whole Church.

Opening Prayer

(by Rosanna I. Grillo)

O Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini

We the migrants thank you

For helping us

To begin a new life

A life filled with dignity and hope

Indebted we are for your perseverance

And we give thanks to our lord

For showering us abundantly in graces

Let us now continue where you left off

And welcome the new migrants

With the same passion and zeal

That you possessed

Let us build a community of brotherly love

Seeking a God in each other

United as a family

Serving one another

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord

Amen
